Melanie Padgett Powers is a writer, managing editor and copy editor/proofreader in the Washington, D.C., area. She was a health writer and editor at membership associations for 13 years before launching MelEdits in 2013. She has written for the American Optometric Association, Society of Interventional Radiology, American Physiological Society and Society for Human Resource Management, as well as Georgetown Business magazine, Bethesda Magazine, Cleveland Clinic and Indiana University Health System. She was a newspaper reporter for seven years and has a degree in journalism from Franklin College, Franklin, Ind.
