Donte Shannon, CAE, is the Executive Director of the Specialty Advertising Association of California and an experienced nonprofit executive from the Greater Los Angeles area. He has worked extensively in association management for 11 years. Throughout his career, he has served in various roles ranging from committee management to business operations. Mr. Shannon advances SAAC’s mission by leading and directing change management strategies at the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM), a 3,000 individual-member association consisting of general internal medicine physicians.
His career accomplishments include being selected as a Forty Under 40 Award recipient by Association Forum of Chicagoland, which distinguishes 40 up-and-coming association and nonprofit professionals who are under the age of 40, and demonstrate a high potential for success in leadership roles and exhibit a strong commitment to the association management profession. Additionally, Mr. Shannon was selected as a 2011-2013 Diversity Education Leadership Program Scholar by the American Society of Association Executives: The Center for Association Leadership.
A devoted professional, Mr. Shannon frequently presents at various conferences within the industry and has served in leadership roles with the ASAE CAE Commission, ASAE Diversity & Inclusion Committee, the ASAE DELP Scholar Outreach Subcommittee and ASAE Young Professionals Committee. Donté Shannon has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the College of Charleston and obtained the Certified Association Executive credential in 2014.
